Description

The Kreg® 90° Corner Clamp gives you the helping hand you need to hold 90° corners and “T” joints together securely when you’re assembling boxes, drawers, cabinets and cases. Plus, the 90° Corner Clamp leaves both of your hands free to add your fasteners. The 90° Corner Clamp is the fastest, easiest-to-use corner clamp you can buy thanks to Kreg Automaxx® auto-adjusting technology.

The 90° Corner Clamp helps hold assemblies like boxes, cabinets, drawers and cases together to ensure that you get strong, tight-fitting assemblies—whether you’re using Kreg pocket-hole joinery, or another method. The clamp’s V-wedge jaws grip the mating pieces securely, ensuring that the pieces sit at precise 90° angles while you drive in Kreg Screws, or even another type of fastener, such as a nail or wood screw.

The 90° Corner Clamp features all-metal construction, including cast-aluminum pads—an outer "V" and inner wedge—that press against the inside and outside faces of the two pieces being joined in order to hold those pieces at a 90° angle to one another. Edge stops also help align the edges of the pieces to ensure accurate assembly of structures like boxes, cabinets, drawers, and cases.

Thanks to Automaxx® auto-adjust technology, all you have to do is squeeze the clamp handles. The clamp will automatically close with the amount of pressure you have set, regardless of the material, whether you’re using thin plywood for drawers, or materials up to 1" thick.

Great design, let down by some poor quality

This tool seems to be a great idea for conveniently setting & firmly holding those awkward 90-degree corners before the panels get glued or screwed together. The design of this tool is impressive, and the quality of manufacture seems good, except … 1. The resulting angle of clamped panels is consistently 89.1 degrees, not 90. Sounds trivial, but this is 3/16" error in 12" which is unacceptable. The angles of both the internal clamping block and its mating external frame have the exact same error (as measured by digital gauge & confirmed by eye with a square). A quote from the website: "The clamp’s V-wedge jaws grip the mating pieces securely, ensuring that the pieces sit at precise 90° angles …". Not sure what went wrong there (I can see no signs of damage). But because I know that the rest of the tool is quality, I will probably try to file down both parts to get exactly 90 degrees (or add packing pieces?). 2. There are no proper instructions. While the packaging shows some pics of how it can be used, the impressive "AutoMaxx" clamping system in particular needs some explanation because it needs to be properly setup. In any case, for the money paid, you would expect detailed instructions to be included - and they don't seem to exist on the website either. And there’s no warranty information. It's such a pity about these 2 issues, because it is obviously a well thought out tool, & I'm confident it will be one tool that gets a lot of use (that is, after I make some necessary corrections).

Clamp adjustment extremely poor

Brought the clamp for a project because the other corner clamps will not fit the micro jig size holes. The clamp is way out of adjustment from the factory and even following instructions from other users that have had the same problems it would work for one clamping but then be out of wack again preventing a second clamping without going through the same adjustment. I have always loved Kreg items from my router table trough the many clamps I have. This product is an extreme disappointment and needs to be completely redesigned.

should have been five stars

I purchased 2 of these clamps. They did not work. Needed to get shelving done as inspection was rapidly coming up. Got so frustrated that I almost threw them out. Finally found someone who told me what to do. Now they work great. I have several Kreg tools and this is the only one that gave me problems. Need to improve these a little.

Good Tool, after 2 adjustments

The tool works great but I needed to make 2 adjustments to get it there. The first is that it had almost zero clamping pressure. I read somewhere how to fix this and it seemed to work. You need to back out the adjustment screw most of the way, cycle the tool, and then adjust it to the pressure you need. Kreg should do this at the factory so shame on them for delivering these in this condition. The 2nd adjustment was that the boards were noticeably out of square (1 to 2 degrees which amplifies over the cabinet distances of course as 1 deg = .017"/1"). I checked the jaws for flatness and squareness and saw that one jaw was slightly out of flat in the direction that was consistent with what I observed in the clamped boards. I took a file and carefully flattened the offending jaw and now they are quite square and repeatable. The clamp is now very handy to use and accurate. The disappointing thing is that Kreg could have produced the tool this way so it is not up to their normal quality standards and they should fix this before losing the public on a well conceived and useful tool

Thought Clamp was broken but

The clamps did not work from the start, so I contacted Kreg. They responded the same day explaining how to reset the automaxx system on the clamps. They are not working like a charm. I will share the instructions on how to reset the automaxx system, as I could not find them in the FAQs. So you will open the jaws and back out that adjustment screw to the point where it is really loose but not falling out. You should see around 3/8" of threads between the bottom of the head of the screw to where it screws into the mechanism. Then you will close the jaws then open them back up. After that, you can bring that adjustment screw back to the positive around halfway down and try to clamp it down. That adjustment is not an exact adjustment, you may have to tighten it more or loosen it more to get the correct pressure you want to apply. When you are using the clamp, you will want to make sure you are opening the clamp fully when you are moving the clamp. This will allow the Automaxx system to reset to zero each time. You should only need to adjust the adjustment screw if you need to add or take out pressure from the clamp as the clamp will adjust to different thicknesses on its own.
