Maybe I'm missing something

"Connecting on the ends of the material is easy money. Works like charm. Dust and chip removal works great in any position. Was a little worried about that. I probably have 25 hours using this baby. Connected everything from 3/4" to 3". But working in the middle of a board it's not groovy. Why are there no center markings on the sides of tool? I think I figured out how to line up the tool on the sides now. Not perfect, but close enough. Let's fix that or create a jig team Kreg. Dowels, hand joinery and tenon gizmos are cool. But, glue and my Milwaukee nail guns are slowly become my weapons choice. Pulling the trigger and hearing the CRACK is so so very additive. I should've never bought those nail guns."

Edge for Me

"Kreg has done a great job of bringing Festool's functionality to a new market. They improved the fence controls and increased the plate size. The dust collection is okay, but not stellar. The dust hose connection is the same size as the pocket hole jigs so I was ready. The tight mortises are a little looser on thickness. We will see if that matters over time. The reversable reference pins are a nice improvement. I have done a bunch of mortises, and I like it. It take a little learning. Watch the Sedgetool Domino videos on YouTube. They mostly apply to the Edge. It is well made and well thought out. It is a good value. I highly recommend it. 👍👍"

I was up and running

"I was up and running with this tool within minutes of unboxing. It's intuitive, easy to adjust, and creates solid, repeatable mortises without any hassle. After using it, I totally get why people invest huge money in the Festool Domino system because it really elevates your joinery workflow. That said, getting virtually identical functionality and solid results at roughly half the price makes this an absolute no-brainer purchase"

I'll keep it.

"My first and only project with this, or any loose tenon tool, is nearing an end: A wenge-framed veneered table top. My first trials in strap wood led me to Taytools dominos for an acceptable fit. I found good performance except for difficulties holding a straight line throughout the cycle, and I found starting prior to setting on the line helped from damage. I did fine that a few of the holes did not make full depth, I guess the tool needs a regular cleaning to clear the depth stop. Since I have never use the Festool, I cannot compare."

So far, im very happy

"So far, im very happy with this product, ive wanted a Festool for a while then found out this one was coming out shortly after the Festool patent ran out. I decided to wait a few months, it was worth it. The price point is great, but the function matches better than the price. I will mainly do 6 and 8 mm tenon. Its very easy to set up and use. I know there will be other brands to come out with there own versions, but im very happy with the Kreg."

So far, So good

"Did a small project cutting about 20 mortises. Had to calibrate the sight glass, but was accurate after the calibration. Tenons fit well and alignment is good. Build seems robust, did have some issues getting a small amount of sawdust out of the tenon even when connected to my dust extractor."

Kreg Edge Worht the Price and the Wait!

"I was really impressded with how solidly built the unit is. It is feature rich and includes items that others would call accessories not included. Right out the box you have everything you need to use the unit. There is an included bit and a samplig of tenons to get you started. It also includes a foam type of packaing where you can neatly install the unit plus extra loose tenons. I am really excited about the unit and how I can use it going forward. It was definitely worth the wait and the price was affordable"

"Worked fine. Battery lasted through all the joints need for my table project ( about 20 mortises) and seems there is plenty left aas I would expect. Alignment was perfect. There is a litlle play in the sliding mechanism but didn't cause any issues for me. I've given 4 stars for that reason."

Q&A

Can it do angled/miter joints?
Yes, we have preset stops at 0, 22.5°, 45°, 67.5°, and 90°. It can also be set to custom angles in between those preset stops.
Can the fence be changed to metric?
The Edge will come with imperial installed by the factory, but we've also included a metric height scale in the box that can be swapped by the user.
Does it come with a storage case?
It does not come with a case, but we’ve included a nice foam insert in the box that has room to hold the tool plus accessories and is sized to fit in common toolboxes. The Kreg Edge and foam insert will fit in the Systainer³ M 237 (Part number 204843 from Festool). For those who want to use this Systainer for the Kreg Edge, they'd need to cut a notch out of the bottom of the foam insert that is 1/2" x 1/2" on both sides. This will fit over a feature in the bottom of the Systainer.
Does the kit include a battery and charger?
Yes, the $499.99 kit includes the tool, battery and charger. It also includes a narrow stock guide, stabilizer base as well as a 6mm cutter and sample pack of tenons.
What type of projects use loose tenon joinery?
Loose tenon joints are ideal for applications where alignment is critical and you want the joinery method to be completely hidden when the project is finished. Common projects include: - Furniture (tables, chairs, cabinets) - Face frames - Panels and glue-ups - Doors
Are cutters and tenons interchangeable between machines?
Kreg Edge cutters are compatible with the Kreg Edge as well as the Festool Domino. Kreg loose tenons have been specifically designed to pair best with Kreg Edge cutters.
What sizes of loose tenons and cutters are available?
Kreg tenon sizes are 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm. Corresponding 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm cutters will also be available.
Is dust extraction necessary with the Kreg Edge?
During short sessions, dust extraction is not required with the Kreg Edge due to the built-in chip-relief slots in the base. For larger projects when dust collection is needed, it includes a 1¼" dust port. The increased airflow from the chip-relief slots on the base also make for highly effective dust collection in these instances.
