Q&A

Will this clamp work on joining 2X4 together?
This is made for boards up to 1".
Will the clamp work with different thicknesses of wood on the same joint? i.e. joining 1/2" ply to 3/4" ply. Thank you
The Corner Clamp will need the thickness to be the same size on both peices.
I have seen a similar clamp that also features a drill pilot hole built in. Does this clamp feature that ? I have numerous meet jigs and like the quality ! I'm leery of ordering the other because of being stung ordering online. What was displayed and what I paid for was Not the same, received tools were pure junk !! Too much hassle to return, so I donated them to a school shop, so kids could learn about quality as opposed to that plastic junk. Thanks for any info on a corner clamp with built in drill guide
No, these clamps do not have any drill guides built into it. These clamps will hold the wood at a 90 so you can screw them together.
The adjusting screw has fallen out, and there seems to be no way to replace it. The arm (stamped with an "A") prevents aligning the screw with its threaded hole. How do I get the screw back in its threaded hole?
Please reach out to our Product Team through our contact us page for assistance with this.
I have 2 of these clamps I've had them for about 4 years now my question is how in the hell do you get them to work if you back the adjustment bac - it doesn't hold if you move it forward + you can't get it to close I took them up to the Woodcraft store here in Boise and they couldn't figure them out either 90-degree corner clamp item #KHCCC I think they're a piece of crap not worth the money
I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Kreg Automaxx Clamp. Let’s try and do a reset and see if we can get it to work. Open the jaws of the clamp and back out the adjustment screw to the point where it is loose but not falling out. You should see around 3/8" of threads between the bottom of the head of the screw to where it goes into the handle. You will close the jaws of the clamp all the way, then open them back up. After that, bring the adjustment screw back to the positive about halfway and try to clamp it down. That adjustment is not an exact adjustment as you may have to tighten or loosen it to get the correct pressure you want to apply. When you are using the clamp, you will want to make sure you are opening the clamp fully when you are moving the clamp. This will allow the Automaxx system to reset to zero each time. You should only need to adjust the adjustment screw if you need to add or take out pressure from the clamp as the clamp will adjust to different thicknesses on its own.
I received two of these clamps as a gift and one works great, the other one doesn't work and I noticed the adjustment screw is turned so it's all the way down. I tried turning it hoping it would raise the threads back up out of the handle but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to adjust it so the threads "pop" back up into the correct position?

How do I adjust my Automaxx® Clamps?
Kreg® Clamps with Automaxx® make clamping faster and easier than ever by adjusting automatically to clamp materials that are thick, thin, or in between. With Automaxx, there’s no fussing with knobs that adjust the clamp capacity, no fiddling to get the exact pressure you want, no need for thickness adjustment at all — just powerful, predictable clamping every time. Below are some helpful hints to ensure your clamping experience is consistent every time. Remove the clamp from the packaging and test the clamp pressure on your material. If you are happy with the pressure of the clamp, no further adjustment is needed. If you would like more/less clamping pressure, simply open the clamp handles fully. Once open, turn set screw one-half turn (to the positive for more pressure, to the negative for less pressure) to adjust. Try out the clamp on the same material and repeat these steps until the desired pressure is found. Once you are happy with the clamping pressure, the clamp will maintain this same pressure until you change the setting again. If you would like to increase or decrease clamping pressure, follow the previous steps until the appropriate pressure is met. To ensure consistent pressure, open the clamp handles completely each time you move the clamp. This allows the Kreg Automaxx system to reset for the correct clamping pressure. Following these steps will ensure that these clamps will perform their best for all your project-building needs. How can I adjust the auto max corner clamp to 1/2 “ plywood?
The Corner Clamps will auto adjust to different sizes by opening the clamp all the way up and then clamping back down. If there is too much or little pressure when closing, open those handles all the way up and adjust the adjustment screw to the positive or negative to get the pressure needed.
I cant seem to be able to shut the clamp on 2 pieces 18mm (3/4 inch) ply wood. when I test it with just 1 side of ply in the clamp, it shuts fine, but when I add the second board I am joining at 90 degrees, the clamp is too tight to lock. is there an adjustment or am I missing something?
