Q&A

Will this clamp work with Kreg KPDGB Jig Portable Drill Guide Base?
Yes, that clamp will work with that Portable Base.
Is the KHC6 compatible with the Kreg HD jig? Will the clamp pad fit in the jig recess?
Yes, the KHC6 will work with the HD Jig.
Have a 6" wood project clamp. Since new it will not adjust automatically Turning the screw in or out makes no difference. The plunger seems to hang up. I've only used it 3-4 times because of the difficulty in operation. Hard to clamp. plunger does not slide to adjust. been like this right from the git go. What's up?
I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Kreg Automaxx Clamp. Let’s try and do a reset and see if we can get it to work. Open the jaws of the clamp and back out the adjustment screw to the point where it is loose but not falling out. You should see around 3/8" of threads between the bottom of the head of the screw to where it goes into the handle. You will close the jaws of the clamp all the way, then open them back up. After that, bring the adjustment screw back to the positive about halfway and try to clamp it down. That adjustment is not an exact adjustment as you may have to tighten or loosen it to get the correct pressure you want to apply. When you are using the clamp, you will want to make sure you are opening the clamp fully when you are moving the clamp. This will allow the Automaxx system to reset to zero each time. You should only need to adjust the adjustment screw if you need to add or take out pressure from the clamp as the clamp will adjust to different thicknesses on its own. If after the reset the clamp is still not working correctly, please give our Technical Support Team a call at 800-447-8638 M-F 8-5 CST so we can help you out with this.
Hi Folks. Will the KHC6 6" clamp work with the clamp adapter on the KPHJ320 pocket hole jig or will I need to use the KHC3?
Yes the 6" clamp will work perfectly with the 320 Jig.
Why do I want to clamp my joint line?
You want to clamp your joint line to ensure a flush joint. Because your screw enters at an angle, pieces will naturally try to shift. With the clamp firmly and correctly positioned on the joint line, you minimize the potential for “workpiece shift” and create the strongest joint possible. For best results, always place the large face of your Kreg Face Clamp on the “show side” of your joint. The “show side” is the side that will show on your finished project.
How do I adjust my Automaxx® Clamps?
Kreg® Clamps with Automaxx® make clamping faster and easier than ever by adjusting automatically to clamp materials that are thick, thin, or in between. With Automaxx, there’s no fussing with knobs that adjust the clamp capacity, no fiddling to get the exact pressure you want, no need for thickness adjustment at all — just powerful, predictable clamping every time. Below are some helpful hints to ensure your clamping experience is consistent every time. Remove the clamp from the packaging and test the clamp pressure on your material. If you are happy with the pressure of the clamp, no further adjustment is needed. If you would like more/less clamping pressure, simply open the clamp handles fully. Once open, turn set screw one-half turn (to the positive for more pressure, to the negative for less pressure) to adjust. Try out the clamp on the same material and repeat these steps until the desired pressure is found. Once you are happy with the clamping pressure, the clamp will maintain this same pressure until you change the setting again. If you would like to increase or decrease clamping pressure, follow the previous steps until the appropriate pressure is met. To ensure consistent pressure, open the clamp handles completely each time you move the clamp. This allows the Kreg Automaxx system to reset for the correct clamping pressure. Following these steps will ensure that these clamps will perform their best for all your project-building needs.
