Q&A

Do you make 2.5 inch number eight find thread screws
The longest fine threaded screw we have is 1-1/2" long. Anything longer than that with that fine thread and the torque required to drive those screws into hardwood, the heads were breaking off. We did not want that in our lineup. So there are a few different options you can do. First is to take and drill your pocket hole as normal then take a 1/8" long bit and drill that pilot hole into the second piece at that exact angle. Then seat the 2-1/2" screw into the pocket hole. Only bad thing about that is if that pilot angle is off you run the risk of stressing the wood with the potential of cracking. The second thing you could do is to set your Jig and stop collar at the 3/4" settings then drive a 1-1/2" fine threaded screw into the pocket. When seated you will have roughly 1" of of that screw into the second piece. We have found that with that depth it will provide a strong hold. Third thing you can do is to drill the pocket hole as normal for the 1-1/2" settings then drive the 2-1/2" coarse threaded screw in just a little ways and back it out. Drive it in a little more and back it out. Keep doing that process till the screw is completely seated in. With the self drilling tip on the screws and the backing out after just a short distance, will allow you to relieve that tension a little at a time with out running the risk of cracking the boards. If you do one of those 3 option, you will be able to connect together those boards.
