"Does what it states but still a bit pricey. Cheap piece of plastic. More like $40. You still have to pay for screws, why not come down on your tool prices?"

"From somebody who is "stepping up" from the Kreg R3 pocket hole jig, my unboxing enthusiasm was met with disappointment that Kreg does not include a handy little case with this jig, especially given the price. With so many components, you'd think a case would be a must! They do include 10 HD screws (very thoughtful). The jig itself is very solid, the one piece construction eliminates all the bend and play in the R3 system when performing pocket hole joinery on 1.5" material. Kreg really needs to step up to the T25 star bit though...using an impact driver on 1.5" material I am constantly stripping screws. Im sure the Kreg R&D team has some objection to this and I would be interested in knowing what it is.."

Wonderful tool

"I absolutely love the Kregjig! It has made it possible for me to build so many projects on my own. Very easy to use, the joints it makes are very sturdy. Great instructional videos and plans to help build almost anything!"

Product came later than original

"Product came later than original estimate. That is on the shipper not you guys."

Compatability

"Bought this thinking I could expand later with the K5 Jig only to learn that the K5 has been discontinued and there is no replacement compatible with the HD. HD jig works well but kind of a pain without the K5 or similar Jig system. Especially when you have 30 t0 40 pieces to drill out. Glad I don't have use this on every project. I'd return if I did. Won't use it again after this job unless it's a small project."

Q&A

Is the kregg hd pocket hole jig discontinued.
Yes, the HD is discontinued. The KPHJ920 XL Jig took its place.
Putting 2x4 together i set drill at 1.5 for thickness of wood what size screws do i use
For 2x material, you will be using the 2-1/2" screws.
Can I use my Kreg Jig HD to attach a 2x8 joist to my 2x8 ledger for deck construction?
It can be done but you will need to check with your local code to see if they will allow it.
I am planning to use the HD pocket hole jig to attach 2x4 runners to 6x6 posts for a fence. I was thinking that I wanted 3" screws. Will the 2 1/2" screws be long enough? If so, at what depth should I set the stop collar?
With the HD, there is only one setting for the stop collar. You will use that setting in the manual for all sizes 1-1/2" and up.
I am building a deck with IPE. The railing will be 4 x 4 IPE posts with 2 x 4 IPE sub rails. Will the HD screw drill into the IPE or will I need to drill a pilot hole?
This will work with that lumber. You will want to be very careful when driving the screws in. You may need to drive that screw in stages. So drive it in a little bit then back it out. Drive it in again and back it out. Keep doing that till the screw is completely seated in.
Can jig be used on 3 inch material?
You sure can use this with 3" wood, you will be using the 2-1/2" screws and the same settings as the 1-1/2".
I have 3x12 rough sawn cedar boards I want to use for a hexagon shaped planter. Will the 2.5" HD pocket hole screws provide enough wood engagement to attach the 120 degree joints?
That should work with doing your project. You will just need to make sure you position your pocket holes so they angle of the screw goes into the next piece of wood.
Is this compatible with the 720 jig?
The HD will not work with the 720PRO. At this time, we do not have a block to drill HD holes with the 720.
What size of plugs do you need for this?
For the HD holes, you will need a 1/2" plug.
Can the HD jig be used in 2x3 lumber? I’m looking to build outdoor chairs with 2x3 not 2x4. Thanks
You sure can use the HD with 2x3 lumber.
