Nice sander but. . .

"First off, I'm a retired builder, 74, and enjoying my wood shop and DIY home projects. This is my first cordless sander and I'll admit not having a cord is is nice but since my shop as plenty of outlets, cordless is a luxury. As sanders go, and I've had a few, the Kreg does the job. The criticisms I have are really nit picking. For example, I find the grip to be a little too large for my small hands but most likely fine for someone with larger. The placement of the on/off buttons could be better since they are right next to each other and can be confused. Along that note, I'm not sure how often I would use the different speeds but time will tell. It's not a feature that is a strong selling point for me. Dust collection with the bag is okay but great with a vacuum. (there's the trade off, hose for cord) In the end, Kreg makes nice tools. I have several. They are a good value and I trust the sander will prove to be the same"

As far as battery powered

"As far as battery powered random orbital sanders go, this tool is fine. The button placement could be improved as there are two buttons (power / speed) right next to each other at the front of the unit that are easily confused."

"I love this sander because it is easy to use, controls are very handy and because it is battery operated it is very portable and can be connected to a vacuum cleaner to eliminate dust. My shop is very small and doesn't really have adequate space for dust collecting equipment."

"I recently perched this sander. I have not had a lot of time on using it yet but what have done is very impressive. This is my first battery operated sander. The convenience without the plug is great. You need to do a little sanding this makes it so much easier and quicker. The quality is great, well balanced and comfortable to use. I look forward to long use of this sander."

No, the tool will not accept any other brand of batteries.
where do you get the sanding pads?
You can find the pads at any of your local hardware stores. They are standard pads.
