Foundations of Building

Kreg Academy features an ever-expanding library of courses. Each course contains at least one project. Our first course ever, The Foundations of Building Course, features 6 full video project build classes + support.

Our learning platform is on demand, so you go at your own pace and pick up where you left off. Each individual project comes complete with a full instructional video of the build from start to finish accompanied by an online platform with step by step instructions, downloadable plans, tool, material and cut lists and a private support community discussion to answer any questions you might have along the way.​

Buying a single course includes lifetime access to the specific projects and content in that course and also includes lifetime access to the Skill Library. It does not include access to future courses or projects as we expand our offering.​

Kreg Academy was designed to support all builders from all backgrounds, be it the aspiring DIYer just starting on their building journey or the experienced woodworker looking to hone skills or find great project inspiration.

Our first offering, The Foundations of Building Series, contains 3 beginner projects and 3 intermediate projects. With each project you can expect to learn new skills from cutting to joining wood to how to install doors and even drawer slides.

The basic tools required to build each project will vary by project for sure. You can click through each project into its detail page, then click over to the “Tools + Materials” tab for more specific information.

One of the things we’re most proud of is that we’ll go out of our way to show you alternate methods for main tools involved. We know not everyone has a power mitre saw in their garage, so we’re sure to show you how you can build with simply a straight edge guide and a circular saw, or even a mitre box and a hand saw. This is just one example of many you will learn.

However, in most cases, a basic set of tools will usually get you through most woodworking projects. A good starting point for any DIY woodworker is:

• A power circular saw
• A straight edge guide
• A pocket-hole jig
• A power drill (or power drill/impact driver drill set)
• Shelf-pin jig
• Clamps

With just these six tools, the world of project possibilities is wide open!
