Customer Testimonials
I just bought my First Kreg Jig R3 today at around 2:00pm and can not believe how fantastic this product is. I have been in construction for over 40 years and have built furniture in my spare time for most of those years.
I have used doweling jigs, biscuit joints, glue and face nailing, tongue and grove, tenon and mortis, and just about every other kind of joining technique there is. As of today, I am almost sure I will never use any other method ever again. I am tempted to try joining boards together for a table top next. No, I’m sure I am going to try it.
This jig is one of the most incredible tools to come along in many years. I only wish I had gotten one sooner. I was able to make and attach four cabinet faces in less than two hours. Wow. And that time included cutting and running all the parts on the joiner.
One of the things that impressed me most is the fact that the joints were perfectly flush. When ever I glue up joints with biscuits or dowels, there always seems to be some sanding required to get the surfaces to match. Not with this jig. Perfect the first time.
I don’t know what the life expectancy of this jig is but I hope it lasts forever. If it were rated to last ten years I’m sure I would wear it out in two simply because I intend to use it that much.
If ever you need a product endorsement, I am now one of the jigs biggest fans.
I use Kreg pocket holes on everything I build. The joinery always lines up and I don't have to use clamps. In fact I can hardly find my clamps they have gathered so much dust from disuse. Attached are some pix of my study. I built the cabinets and wainscot with my Kreg K3 set. What I really like, though, are the modifications I made to my workbench to facilitate my pocket hole work. My router fence slides on and off using the t-tracks. I made the
k3 platform with the same bolt distance so it slides on and off my workbench in seconds. Then I made the L-shaped jig for assembling cabinet doors. (I don't have room for a Klamp Table in my shop). My daughter used this set-up to make cabinet doors for her kitchen and she has never used tools before.
My thoughts on your pocket hole jig.
First, I used to have a pocket hole jig that seemed well made (it is solid aluminum with hardened steel guides and a two piece drill with carbide pilot hole cutters and a HSS center bit) I liked the idea of pocket hole joinery. But I could not get any halfway decent results using the darn thing! I almost concluded that pocket hole joinery was hype. I completely stopped using the thing.
I finally broke down however and got a Kreg jig (the mid priced hand held version kit). I just used it for the first time making base cabinets and face frames for a wall of built in's.
It worked GREAT! It was Soooo easy to make perfect pocket holes FAST EVERY time. I mean this thing did just what the marketing materials said it would (and that is saying something today!).
I mention this is because of the comments of a woodworker who said "I think $149 is a lot money for a tool without a motor."
I was trying to be thrifty by not shelling out the money for the Kreg jig and getting another that cost less but seemed well made. Well that was penny wise and pound foolish on my part. I found out spending money on the best of class can sometimes be a thrifty choice. And to the woodworker that says it is overpriced, I would reply, many would not think twice of spending $149 on a good hand plane. And I will say that the Kreg pocket hole jig performs it's task as well as the best veritas hand plane performs it's own task.
Anyway my 2 cents.
I've owned and operated a small home business for the past several years and I wanted to take a moment say Thank You! Thank you to each of you who have been so dedicated in the design and building of the many outstanding tools. Each tool has made the construction of cabinetry and other wood projects easier to build with the end results being a better finished product.
I started building cabinets when you were a young company and purchased one of your first Kreg Jigs. This single item had been the back bone of my business and just as important as my table saw. It has performed well over the years, boring countless numbers of precise holes and still boring holes today. I have arrived at the conclusion that I can not wear this tool out.
I first saw the Kreg Jig tool at the Portland woodworkers show and purchased one that same day. It changed my total method of building cabinets and my production has increased. Since this time I have purchased several other Kreg Tools and look forward to visiting your booth each year to see what new product you have developed. As always, I hope to see you this fall in Portland, Oregon.
I just wanted to express to you my sincere thanks for your continued ventures in making a cabinet makers life easier. Your company founder Craig Sommerfeld should be commended for his contributions to the industry.
It is so gratifying using my new K3 System I may find myself skipping lunch. I'm 74 and my shop is mostly equipped with everything I need for the woodworking I do with walnut. Joining has been the most challenging part of woodworking. I honestly look forward to using my Kreg System. Not only have you developed one of the best tools ever, you could be developing average woodworkers to Crafstman. Thanks again,
Fred Busch
I saw your pocket hole jig video at lowes.com. It is very misleading.
I bought the K3 Master System and tried it. Your video said I could build projects \"in half the time.\"
NOT TRUE!!
By using the K3 system, I finished my project in one-third the regular time!
Thanks Kreg, for this wonderful tool. I love it!
Excerpts from Magazine Reviews
"Imagine a magical tool that cuts the construction time of cabinetry and other woodworking projects in half and eliminates the need for an expensive arsenal of clamps. Pocket hole jigs help give you such advantages. And best of all, they're easy to use."
"For me, the main advantage of pocket screw joinery is its ability to draw joints together and keep them that way while the glue dries. This joinery method, then, completely eliminates the need to use clamps to hold the assemblies together during the construction process, which gets me around many clamp-induced alignment problems, and, more importantly, saves an immense amount of assembly time."
"Kreg Tool Company makes a pocket hole jig that changed my mind about pocket hole joinery. It's extremely fast and accurate."
"The KREG JIG® outperformed its competition by a wide margin. It's rugged, versatile, and well-designed for high-volume, high speed work--it's worth the investment."
